I did a google search and found a few reviews of the individual kits from Trumpeter and Dragon, but I was wondering if anyone had actually compared the two kits to see what the pros and cons were. I know in most of the previous instances where the two had gone head to head on big subjects, Dragon had been the simpler/simplified choice (Leopold/Karl). Just curious if that was still the case.

It appears what you say still rings true. The Dragon M983 tractor is the Italeri M977 HEMTT base kit with a sprue of parts added to build the tractor. I assume the launcher and radar are equally as detailed (or missing details) as is the truck.

The Trumpeter M983 is all-new molds and very nice. From what I have seen, so are the radar and launcher trailers as well.

The AFV Club kit is the Trumpeter kits with a few added details that Trumpeter missed.

For level of details and value, I recommend the Trumpeter kits.
