Hoping someone will be able to help with info.
Would like to do a Pz IV at Kharkov 43, but in 1/16.
Trumpeter obviously do some.
Goggle suggests the G model is variant to build.
I don't want any shorten on her, as would like to put figures riding.
Is this the correct variant?
Which way tho go H or F2 as they don't do a G?
F2 seems much cheaper, is that an option and just add double baffle?
Does F2 include double baffle muzzle brake, but not for use, I can't find review or sprue shots.
Any guidance?
Cheers

Panzer IV H were not issued before April 1943, hence too late for Kharkov. However, you could probably backdate an Ausführung H to a G, the most obvious change being that leave off the Schürzen (side skirts), among other things. The gun would be correct, as well as the uparmored front. You would need to add sighting devices in the turret that were cancelled in the AUsf. H due to the turret side skirts... Don't know about other external differences, but I'm sure some people here will be glad to help with the details...

Didn't Dragon do a IVG "Kharkov?" Seem to remember it depicted in a whitewash on the box art.

The F2 was redesignated the G, so the difference is really in the details. It has been customary for historians to refer to the earliest version by the original F2 designation, but the Waffanamt considered them to be G variants.
As G production progressed, the visors on the turret sides were deleted, and the single baffle muzzle brake was replaced by the double baffle. Parts were often used out of delivery order by the manufacturers, so early turret shells could be seen with the later gun, and vice versa. The l/43 gun tube was eventually replaced by the l/48, and side skirts appeared on the final G models. There is no reason not to use an F2 kit for the Kharkov battles in early 1943.
The H model had a different drive sprocket than the F2/G series, and would be harder to backdate.

Thanks all, some food for thought. Am away at the moment so doing have access to my refs and limited internet hence query. Didn't realise was so many battles at Kharkov.
Was just keen to take advantage of cheap shipping offer whilst it was on, before I get home.
Seems that a F2 may be suitable, as long as its the long barrel version, that would be my preference just from a visual point of view. What I'm seeing is that the G may have had both the L/43 and 48.
I guess the challenge is to find which is in the TRumpeter 1/16 kit, as I really don't want to have spend more cash on a barrel given the base kit price. The F2 is about 20% cheaper.
Thanks all for input, thought it was an easy one.
