Mark, you make an interesting point about the art work from the 1960's, I know there was a drive by parent groups, may have been the 70's, to put pressure on kit makers to remove the violence, Airfix box art by Roy Cross suffered the daft censorship, and his works were fantastic.

The Airfix boxart was killed off by a small but loud group of Anti War mothers in Australia (Which was Airfixs biggest export market at the time) who lobbied the then Whitlam government to ban such warlike artwork from childrens toys which they dememd Airfix. It was then taken up in the UK by similar group and Airfix capitualted. it had a huge impact on sales as they used a poorly built kit pictured on some irrelevant blueprints in place of the stirring Roy Cross stuff. Thankfully Airfix has a new management and the art work of Adam Tooby who has taken over where Roy Cross left off
