I know very little about WWI armor, but it looks like a Mk.I Female.

Nope, the Mk I is more rhomboid in shape. This one is too rounded (idlers / drive wheels have larger diameter in relation to the height of the tank).

I would say that this is a Mk VIII also known as Liberty tank or 'The International'.

Google Image search (and Yes, before you ask, Google also finds images that are not related, the first ones are OK though)

"After the war, 100 vehicles assembled in the US were used by the US Army until more advanced designs replaced them in 1932. A few tanks that had not been scrapped by the start of World War II were provided to Canada for training purposes."

Agreed. The arched guard over the exhausts is a dead give-away.

Let's hope that Takom or someone else gets around to giving us a plastic kit

Gábor was awake as well so he got a response in while I was trawling the net for suitable images

I guess "3-ton" is a bit light for a heavy tank....

I am stumped by the turret though. It sure looks like that barrel is a 37mm barrel. Is it just a long mg barrel. The MG's were hotchkiss until around 1922 when 2 were eliminated and replaced with M1917 brownings.

Considering that a whole sponson appears to be missing, that barrel could just be a metal pipe. From the looks of that one tank I doubt it is carrying any weapons.

There was a Ford 3-ton and the Mk VIII.

The Mk VIII was made by Rock Island Arsenal, not Ford.

If you look closely you can see the edge of the left sponson, so I don't think it is a damaged or otherwise special vehicle. What looks to be a 37mm is, I do believe, an armoured sleeve to protect the Hotchkiss MG barrels.

And, of course, if it's not actually doing any shooting during the training pictured, it probably has no MGs fitted as they would be kept in the armoury unless issued for firing, if for no other reason than to keep them clean.
