According to Army Times, the Stryker will be equipped with the new 30mm gun turret. This might present a nice opportunity for our after market folks.

Yes, Hisham, that's the one.

Here's a recent article:

http://breakingdefense.com/2016/10/army-rolls-out-upgunned-stryker-30m-autocannon-vs-russians/

The 30mm ATK Mk44 gun carries about 150 rounds in two ammo trays...not a lot, but better than nothing.

I caution anyone who wants to post a comment on Breaking Defense as there's been quite a bit of flaming, political, and just plain silly (irrelevant) comments.

Hey, Allen.. I'm fine, thank you.

There's no great computer skills required If you want to take a still from a video, just...

# Run the video in full screen mode

# Stop the video where you want

# Press the "Print Screen" key (to the right of the F12 key)

# Open the Microsoft "Paint" application and click on "Paste" from the "Edit" menu

# Then you just save the pic as a jpg file.

Hope this helps

Hisham

This is a variant that should have come out when the Stryker was first fielded!

I read somewhere that it was a modular type turret where other caliber of rounds and barrels could be changed or the turret had different configurations. But I have to say it looks really tall and would stick out like sore thumb.Think they should revisit other options something with a lower silhouette. But I guess this is a stop gap production

This is probably going to need to be a whole new kit. Resin would be really pricey, as the lower hull is the new Double V version as well as the wheels are different. The upper hull has some big differences, as well- mainly the turret ring. Then there is the turret.

And why still 30mm? UK decided against the 30mm Mk44 for the Ajax Scout and the Warrior upgrade years ago because of its limited lethality and projected protection overmatch. Relatively poor AP and very poor HE. Still essentially German MK103 ballistics from WW2. 37mm "Supershot" upgrade idea is dead, not least because it was still limited to using a 30mm case, just straight taper instead of necked, and the same overall round length. 40mm Mk4 would have been a better bet: fires Bofors ammo. Not forgetting that the US was at one time interested in the 40mm CTWS that the UK chose for Ajax and Warrior, and that both UK and US TRACER prototypes had this weapon.

Agreed, 30mm is not enough as the Russians will soon mount a 57mm turret on most modern BMPs, they are already trying to sell the turret on the open market.

Its going to be new builds? Because reading originally when they started this it was supposed to be an upgrade for the M1127 Stryker, which wouldn't get the Double Vee Hull.

I've read that the contract for the 81 vehicles recycles & retains the original flat-bottom configuration hull.

Just saw an Army Times article the first prototype has been delivered. The truck retains its full infantry squad.

Hey Hisham,

Bless your heart. I really appreciate you for taking the time to post these directions. I will give them a try, although computers are evil, demon possessed, voodoo boxes for me most of the time...lol!

Respectfully,
Allen

Allen,

The way I see it is that it will benefit our Military with the ISIS wanting to take American lives.

Hello Tristen,

I think you are correct. This will surely help fill a void in the Stryker series.

Respectfully,
Allen
