Yes. K1A1 is the existing older kit. What is different about the A2 version?

Hello Hisham and Tony,
Thanks for letting us know about the release of this kit. I imagine that technology from the K2 has been incorporated where feasible.
The little that I have heard about the K1A2 has to do with optical and electronic upgrades. There might be the addition of video cameras for situational awareness, LWR and it may have armor enhancements.
Can you guys tell from the photo if the kit shows it with the L44 or L55...I am unable too see to well at the moment.
Respectfully,
Allen

The A2 model uses a number of upgrades taken from the newer K2 tank, such as the digital wireless displays and soft kill APS. The unrifled 120 gun is the same copy of the M256 L/44.

Thanks for posting that Hisham, I don't think the kit is different enough for me to purchase (I already have the K1A1)as the differences between the A1 and the A2 seem to be slight. but maybe we will se a kit of the K2 Black Panther at some point in the future?

Hello John,
i am wondering if there are enough external changes to make it a worthwhile build as well. I used the DEF models conversion for the the K1A1 and liked the result.
I really like the looks of the K2. I believe the ROK assisted Turkey with their Ataya MBT. I would'nt mind giving either one a try in 1/35.

Allen

Hello Allen, I was not aware of the DEF models set, is it for the Academy kit? I have seen the Legends stowage set and the MK 1 designs etch set.
I agree with you about the Turkish Altay, it would be a nice addition a modern armor collection:
...but as it is still a final prototype it will probably be awhile.
The Leopard 2SG used by Singapore:
...might be something we see a little sooner, since there are so many companies with leopard 2 kits out there to use as a starting point.

Hello John and everyone,
That is the first picture I have seen of the Altaya with the RWS. That is another feature that has become quite popular on MBT's. We had those fielded on vehicles overseas and, I must say, they are quite impressive, if not a bit awkward.
I also like the looks Singapore's Leopard II improvements. I won't be surprised to see this or similar versions offered at some point.
I hope that I did not put out the wrong information regarding the K1A1 conversion. It may have been from DToys as opposed to DEF Models. In either case, it is very nice, in my opinion. The most significant aspect being the removal of the kits glacis plate. The replacement piece looks like what I saw in the pictures in the new kit.
I think that the two (2) prominent boxes at the corners of the bustle rack are newer additions that were not part of the conversion kit to the best of my memory.
Timothy, I was able to see the box art better today. It looks like the barrel is longer than the L44, to me. I will take your word for it. Although, there may not be a perceived need for it, I wonder if the K1 could handle the L55 if that became a desirable upgrade.
Respectfully,
Allen
