Hi all,
Once again the Xmas décor is out in stores.
Did a post last year about this product so just a reminder.
Lemax, who makes those miniature village buildings has a roll of cobblestone and brick that is very useful to us dio makers.I've used over the year and still have some left.Bought 2 this year in case I can't find it next year.
Basically rubber.Takes paint well and to adhere to a base I just sanded the bottom a bit and glued with white glue. Michaels carries it,but don't suggest them, twice the price at $44.99. For you guys here in Canada ,Canadian tire has the exact same for $22.99.
Hope it,s a good tip.

Tom

I'll just use one of the 50% off coupons they've been pumping out lately. Thanks for the heads-up. Looks extremely handy.

Google is your friend. eHobbyTools.com, with more here; look for the 'brick' and 'pebble' roads and mats.

Used the Michaels 50% off coupon today to but the brick.

Unless your doing a huge Dio,should be enough for at least a year.

Looks like this will work just fine. Thanks for posting this info, Tom! A few years ago I bought several similar looking rolls of stuff from a small company called Kancali, but don't know if they are still in business.

Do you think this could be used in 1/25, or would the cobbles look too small?

Hey Jim,
Just picked up a roll of the stuff at Michael's this morning. I think it would be perfectly fine in 1/25. Shoot me your address and I'll send you a chunk of the stuff and you can check it out up close and personal.
Cheers,
Rick

Hi Tom,
I actually meant to ask what you used in your brilliant 'Road to Paris' dio but kind of spaced it long ago. Thanks for reading my mind! Could you please provide an item number for the roll you used? in that one? I might just give this stuff a whirl.

Cheers!

I picked up a few rolls a while back at Canadian Tire - same exact stuff but a narrower roll. it's the perfect size for roads. It can be used as walls too.

Or you could just scribe your own. Only took me 10 hours!

Monte, I really like your attention to the small details like the broken bits. Very nice scribe work!

The roll I just picked up at Michael's is marked #64143/487242, hope that is it.
Cheers,

Thanks Mike,

The broken bits come naturally as you are scribing the bricks. The plaster just chips off in some areas leaving what you see. I can't say I like this Lemax stuff. The gaps in the stones are too wide, just doesn't look right to me.

So I took a chance and ordered a roll of Lemax Large Pebble Display Mat from Michaels — just arrived today. Seems the same as seen in Tom's first three product images and it is very nice. However, I tend to agree that the gaps between stones do seem a bit wide — at least for the project I have in mind.

PS: Please forgive my OCPD (Obsessive Cobblestone Personality Disorder)! 😜

Cheers!🍺
