I finished this today. I hoped it would be finished for the cover-up campaign but I didn´t model anything for more than 1 month for personal reasons. Anyway ..... finished now without the flag ... I got lazy near the end. All critic and points of view are welcome!
Its 120mm. The figure is a Handschar division soldier from dream catcher and the gun is from Verlinden8)

That looks really good. I signed up for the coverup campaign at the very end, not realizing we only had 9 days. I had to drop out.

WOW - stunning. The figure is great. The PAK is super.
The ONLY thing I can say I would do differently is make the base about .25 inches wider to have the towing hitch 'on' the base. I think it's the towing hitch, the little angle bracket off the third leg sticking away from the window.

Congrats on the very good PB. The figure,PAK and building section is very good painted. I liked the tones of this dio. I agree on the base would be a little bigger.

very good painting indeed.

@ plasticbattle and graywolf.... soldier's helmet looks like Turk's "Fes" (Turkish and Eastern hat style)... do you know the story behind it? Or is this just a special one for Bosnia? Thanks

hi 1907,
as you may know fez (fes) is not a special type of hat only for Turks,it is worn in many Arabic,Eastern and Islamic countries. Thinking the SS Handschar Division had Muslim Bosnian origins,it is not a surprise to see a green fez on their heads :-)
In real, the interesting part is the name Handschar.it is written as Handzar in Croatian. It means curved Turkish sword, otherwise known as the Scimitar. This sword was historically been the symbol of Bosnia.
pls read the links if u need more info

This is impressive stuff dude ! Too bad you where not able to finish it in time for the closingdate of the Cover_Up Campaign. The weathering on your diorama is just superb.

This is something to be proud of ! Excellen !

NB : I join Scott's comment on the size of the base....just a tiny bit larger would have made it even better.

Thanks for all your nice words Guys. Im not too worried about missing the end date for the cover-up campaign. I had already finished a dio for it earlier. Operation Cover-up; Hold your fire and it also give me the buzz/push to complete a second dio. I dont think a flag would add anything to this.

The mad thing about this is .... I did this on purpose. As this is a 120mm dio it is already quite big. I don´t have any 120mm stuff for throwing around, so I wanted to keep this tight. In photo four you can see what was a kitchen table ... just to add something .. token sign of life if you like. There is actually something sticking out over all four sides ... the gun barrell on the right side, a spent shell on the front, the towing hitch on the left and some rubble on the back. I could have moved the gun forward and made the hitch fit, but I decided to move back. This was a consious decision. If I was going to have a base bigger to hold all ... I think it would have looked worse without more detail. I guess i will just have to live with it now. The actual base was from a local hobby shop made from pre-shaped MDF. They have a good selection of these and real wood bases.

PB - Don't feel like you have to 'settle' on this dio. I was REALLY nit picking on the hitch. As you put it - it was a concious decision and one of taste not substance so - Enjoy and be very happy with this gem.

Well, now you've explained the thoughts behind it (size, sticking out objects on all sides, details), it makes sence. I even think you're right and that you took the right decision in keeping this size....... I think that when I had looked at it a bit longer, I could have figured out that myself.

your comments show that this dio was well thought over before completing and publishing it...I love that...Good planning does it all.

Like I said in my former post Excellent !!

Hi Guys. You do have a point .... one I didn´t think of when building it. My IKEA display cabinet is starting to get a bit tight, so I thought I would keep this to a minimum.
Everyone´s perseption of the same thing is different, thats why campaigns like this are fascinating. Everybody had the same constraints to start out with ... look what came from that.
It doesn´t bother me that the end sticks out a bit, but I do appreciate your opinions on things ... good or bad. Never apologise for your opinion. Its good to talk things like this out. It can only be positive. Thanks for all your nice words and positive input!! Much appreciated!
