Hello,

I'm thinking to build an YPR765 but I'm not sure about the kit I have to use as AFV Club have made 3 kits of this vehicle. I'm not familiar to this vehicle.

Do you know which kit I have to use to make a dutch version in Afghanistan, please ?

Dear Alex,

Having used the YPR as a artillery lso, having build this model, I can remember that the basic model was AFV box 35119. It represents the versions which were upgrade to the YPR 2000
Some items:
1. remove the gun ports at the sides, except the last one at the left side. With some putty it is fixed in minutes.
2. forget the interior. It belongs to a M113, therefore useless
3. buy the etch set to improve details. Expensive but worth the trouble
4. use sprockets D13 and D17 since the Dutch ones have Diehl tracks
5 look at primeportal.net for ypr pri references

By the way PRI stands for Pantser Rups Infanterie. Armoured tracked infantery

Good luck!

Hi Alex

I guess this is the Extra Tech PE set Paul is talking about :

At least you can buy the AFV Club one for the racks mesh :

as the kit included mesh has nothing to do with the real thing

Pawel's review of the kit

Paul thank you for your detailled answer. I suppose the kit 35119 has already the good tracks.

Frenchy thank you for the PE references, it will be usefull.

In case you need reference stuff, here's the link to some YPR pics I've gathered (mostly Afghanistan ones) that show members of the YPR family of vehicles in action (including some ERA-fitted ones) :

Great pics Frenchy(as always!) nice to see they had such a variety of finishes. just green, overpainted with desert colours, 3 colour cammo, 2 colour cammos, I wonder what their official stance was on painting them in Afghan?

You're welcome Paul I guess you could add "local mud" to the camo schemes used there :

With mud: up to the local 'artist'
With paint: according an official scheme which was based on scientific research
The blue YPRs belong to the (Dutch based) Koninklijke Marechaussee, the Dutch military police, which has many roles, based on our laws: boarder guards, military police, guards of the royal family, support for civil police etc.
