Can i use enamel varnish on a model thats painted with acrylics?
I am coming to an end with my UH-1C Huey which is painted with Model Masters Acrylics. Can i use the standard Humbrol varnishes that i use for enamels (with good results) to prepare, seal the decals and finish the model?
I wish someone has try this and gives a straight on answer (and also takes the responsibility !!!) Hehehehe thanks guys

Hi there Major Goose

I've used enamel varnish over acrylics with no problems.

The only thing to be careful of (and this is true, whatever paints you use) is that everything has dried really thoroughly before you add the clear coat - if paints haven't fully cured, you could get cracking/crazing.

Hope that helped... did I take enough responsibility?

Merlin thanks for the immidiate response and the responsibility undertaken. The truth is that in Greece most hobby shops dont bring acrylic varnishes cause people here is not used to acrylic colours. The modelmaster paints that i use have been imported here only the last 3 months !!!! so getting the HUmbrol varnishes is secure i wont run out some saturday night and i wanted to know if the use of them (as i have been told from fellow car modellers) is as secure as they say. Further more these guys in the modelling car club say that the paint with acrylics which are of course much better than enamels but they use enamel varnishes cause the have better effect on the finished model and in sealing the decalsand all this .so ....i ll give it a try and you ll see the result in the poor Huey tester for the Death from Above coampaign!!!!! Thanks for help , you really gavi it straight !!
