Looks shiny to me or are those white things light dab of paints? Impressive! What it only needs now is some detailing

The only question/ comment I have is I hope the MK19, trripod, etc haven't been glued yet. It'll be real hard to paint and detail them if so.

And as we are on this - there was a discussion earlier on this topic and it was said that it would be HIGHLY unlikely that both M2 and Mk19 would be issued to the same Humvee vehicle. Only one of those weapons would be carried. If Mk19 is installed on weapons station, some lighter machine gun can also be used as additional "close range" weapon (e.g. M60, M240 or M249).

Do the new Tamyia kits come with a SINGARS radio set or is it the old style one?

Great looking kit by the way.

Coming on nicely there Marc. I like the seatbelt detail that you have there. Are you planning to put it on a diorama?

The new Tamiya HMMWVs come with the old VRC-46/47 type radios. I've seen some discussion on this and someone on the missing-lynx modern group pointed out that since these models (or most of them) are from ODS it would have been 'period correct' for these not to have SINCGARS. This is true, SINCGARS really didn't take hold across the army untill the mid-90s, so if these are ODS vehicles they wouldn't have them. This doesn't explain the M1046 having the old style 46/47s, but I'm not a master designer at Tamiya

If you want SINGARS radios you'll have to get the Pro Art Models or MR Modelbau resin kit ones. Mission Models (www.missionmodels.com) has the ones from Pro Art Models and VLS (www.modelmecca.com) carries the MR Modelbau, both are around 12 bucks. I have yet to try these out so I can't tell you the differences but I think the MR set has both the VRC 96/97 vehicle mounts and the PRC-119 man packs, the Pro-Art doesn't.

Hope this long winded reply helps

Thanks for the "long winded response", you gave me all the info I needed, thanks, but you just added another 12bucks to my next kit, better start using quaters as weight instead of pennies!

No Problem!

Looking at MMB's 1025 and all the details he added makes me realize I have to drop some GWs and get a punch and die from Waldron or someone and a Etchmate or Hold N' Fold. I just 'upgraded' to a double action airbrush so I think convincing my house hold Property Book Officer I need to purchase those tools sooner than later is going to be a tough sell. Money for SINCGARS add ons?!?! yeah right!

The detail has added a wonderful additions to a basic kit, I would have never thought to add that in there you have given me a guide for my 1st Hummer model soon. What type of materials did you use for all that detail.

Happy :-) Modeling

Great look Hummer!! As far as weapons, the HUMMVs in the 101st MP BN, 101st ABN DIV, carried both Mk19 & M60 MG, the M60 recently being replaced with either the SAW or M240D light MG. Dual mounts in the 101st were not added till mid-90s. During ODS they had to mount only one weapon or the other.
