How are the steel chevrons mounted on T-62 tracks? Is it a rubber or steel pad or something else?

Links are a sigle piece casting , same type as on T-54 and 55.

If you mean the Sherman T62 (not T-62...thats' the tank) tracks, they are steel chevrons welded onto a steel pad (I think) and 3 rivets

Thanks guys.I note that the pads look quite dark. Were they primered or painted with something or is that just oxidation?
