So I grabbed up this old kit for 3 dollars at a warehouse sale with no real intention to build it, but the old Revell/Italaerei logo and picture just drew me to do it. I am impressed at the level of detail in a 40 something year old kit, and MOSTLY impressed at how the instructions are (were) laid out back then. The callouts are very specific and the steps are spelled out in words as well as illustrations. There were even suggested tips and tools in the beginning page.... a really nice touch I seem to not see in todays kits.

Ill have more as I go, and Ill take some shots of the instructions for those of you who like me are over 40 and remember these things as a kid!

I took these photos of the instructions sheet and of the "MASTER MODELLERS CLUB" Application that also came with the kit...... very interesting stuff here as the callouts are also described in text format, the parts are NOT labelled on the trees themselves, and there is just a bunch of good information on building, tools, and other things that you just dont see in todays kit instructions IMO....

Made alot of progress on this one since my last post... ad I gotta say, for an almost 50 year old kit, only a couple parts broke in taking them off the trees. THe color is desert tan, even though it looks white, because the light was too bright. The coffee can cover is gonna be an interesting base, either a stone wall in front of the gun or the gun in a defilade type hole with some shrubbery.

Nice job. The only drawback is the smooth tires. Something I solved by using leftover Tamiya ones. The figures are terrible except for the guy lying down - I always liked him!

Do you have a photo of your tires and what you did with them ? I am probably going to hit them with the dremel wheel and xacto blade to chew em up a little after I see some reference shots of the real thing up close

Brian,
Great job on an old kit. Loved looking at the old directions. There is a lot more info there than you get on a set of directions today...like face painting!

Awesome

Yes sir! I greatly enjoy these old models. IIRC, this kit has a metal spring for the recoil?

Yeah, Italeri's figures were pretty bad. But their parts were often finer than Tamiya's.

Good model!

Kits pretty much built... needs weathering and washes, and the base is well on its way.....

Pretty close to happy with what I have here, not sure the figures will make it in time for AMPS but we shall see... I got a whopping 6 days to get there LOL.

What a great build Brian. I do love the old instructions in the fact that they actually explain the parts of the gun's makeup. Much more informative.

Nice to see that old kit coming to life. The figures are funny though from what I can see... very toy-like and basic

The gun is quite nice though, as I said: love to see it and thanks for sharing!
