In Shelby Stanton's book,"Vietnam Order of Battle", there is another picture of one from the 597th Trans. Co. Nov.1968. It says it is a 16 ton 6x6 cross country XM8002(Barries & Reinicke). It looks like on your picture the front hub has an International Harvester logo. The tractor unit looks like it might have originally been from an earth moving scraper. Wayne

Frenchy, I always check your posts. They always seem to be full of unique photos & links. But this link : https://www.fold3.com/browse/252/ was of great help ! I was able to find my father's serial number but not much else about his service records. But that is such a BIG help in helping me find out more about his WWII service. I'm guessing next step would be the Third Army archives. I have this wild dream about following in his footsteps and re-tracing his war journeys.
Thanks again for that link !

You're welcome Tom. The stuff on this website is worth a look indeed, even though there may be more Vietnam War era pics than WW2 or Korea...I'm currently gathering more of them for my archive

Make sure you take frequent backups so that you don't lose everything
like I did when an update for Windows (from MicroShit) crashed my computer .....
