Landed a doosie of a deal om the Trumpy KMT-6. ($4). Couple questions. Parts 25, 26, 12 are showed assembled and mounted on the left front above the splash plate. Upper part looks like a pulley. Photos of the system do not show any sort of cable attached to the plows. (Also a pic of a Czech T-55 shows this on the right side.) Also, parts 2 and 3 look like a pulley of some sort but there is no mention of it in the instructions. Any clues?

Hi; Tim

Be aware that the Kmt-6 from trumpy, is Not Accurate !! The Pulleys are attached on the Glassis plate & cables run thru them to the Upper top Arms on Both sides. The Trumpeter Kmt-6 is only complete on just one side, the only accurate kmt-6 is by Zvesdal & Miniarm and are resin.

Could you link those? I haven't found any of trace of them.

The kit and it's instructions are slightly disappointing. From what I've seen it's not really wrong, but rather missing the cables and the plumbing.
There is a pretty good walkaround, this should clear at least some parts up.

BTW: Anyone aware if the KTM-6 could be fitted on the T-55AM2B? From what I've seen the additional glacis armour would also close up the space where the cables (for raising and lowering the plough) usually run. Yet the mounting points are still accessible.

Hi;

For Zvesdal & Miniarm just type in www.miniarm.com and it should take you there, the same for zvesdal. And if im not mistaken der sokel shop is also A source. And if you are so inclined the SKIFF kit is useable, if you are willing to add the missing details & clean up !!
When using the Kmt just make sure the Mounting Plates for the Upper & Lower Hull are lined up at the correct angles.

SP Designs have a resin correction set for the Trumpeter KMT-6, for the princely sum of $4.

I only found a KMT-8, but no KMT-6.

Seems it's not that easy to get here. Anyway, the missing parts shouldn't be too hard to scratch.

But thank you both for your help.

Thanks, All. From Ive seen from the pics the Trumpy looks right except for the cables and missing actuator. Still trying to figure out the rigging and how the real one works. (Looks like the piston in the actuator extends and pulls the cable, but in photos the blades are up. To my logic if the piston extends it should raise them more, not lower them.) Looked on Miniarm's site and did not see any mine plows. (what section is it in?) Was not able to find the other at all. I kept getting Zvezda.

The pictures are from a museum piece. They must have set the thing up so it stays in the upper position without being pressurised.

The piece mentioned here is probably a KMT-8 anyway. I haven't found it on the Miniarm website either, but the distributor for my region had it in webshop (out of stock, of course).

Hi Timothy,
from what I can tell, those pistons act upon the cable fixed to the top of the piston housing with the other end being a pulley (part 2 as shown in the Skif kit instructions)
http://www.fotosik.pl/zdjecie/pelne/79459330d70af2b6
Looks like the trumpeter parts 2 and 3 you mention as not being shown in the instructions is the pulley http://www.andreaslarka.net/ps264231/264231017.jpg

The loop in a lower cable as seen here http://data4.primeportal.net/ce/carrey/kmt_mine_plough/images/kmt_mine_plough_22_of_32.jpg
passes through this pully so as the piston is extended it pulls back on this lower cable via the upper cable and pulley to raise the plow.
I would imagine there must be some sort of locking mechanism to hold the plows in the raised position but can't make it out.
