Could this version be used with any army in the world?

Well the decals cover Spain, Great Britain, Italy, France and Germany. That's a good start for you!

The Revell rebox of the original Italeri features UK and Dutch decals. Keep in mind this is a pretty old version of the Land Rover. Certainly many nations have used this as well as irregular armies, Police departments and all manner of public and private services.

Hi, this looks pretty positive-loving the new hardtop roof and rear door options. However, the wheels are incorrect(landrovers are all 5 stud wheels) and the GB license plate for the rear is incorrect,it should be yellow with registration reading 3 letters, 3 numbers & 1 letter.I will still be getting at least one

UK rear number plate should read and look as this picture.


Box top and colour plates show 5 stud wheels but I can't tell if the plastic is 5 stud or not. Be nice if this has right hand drive although you do see a few left hand drive in the UK but these are an exception not the rule.
A few bits to convert/scratch and I can make my old Series IIa.

on the box art, it looks like the steering is on the left.. but on the sprue, the instruments look like they're on the right I don't know why it doesn't occur to them to include two dashboards, like Tamiya does, or at least used to do, with their 1/24 car series.. I don't think that would really raise the price too much

The plastic has 6-stud wheels ........ The images are good enough to be enlarged (Windows PC: press the ctrl-key and use the scroll wheel on the mouse to zoom in/out) and then the six studs become visible.

Hi everyone,

This vehicle was utilised by Spanish Foreign Legion, the "Agrupación de Tropas Nómadas" and the "Policía Territorial del Sahara" in the Spanish Western Sahara between 1970-1976.

Besides, it was commisioned to the spanish national police force, the "Policía Armada", just 1976-1978.

Anyway six studs are wrong for a Landie, the box top image and colour guides are correct 5 stud.

There is an additional LHD dashboard on the sprue with the hardtop.

There is a second dashboard on the new sprue. You can build both LH- and RH-drive.

Put it in the stash for a while and wait until some resin pourer or other comes with proper 5-stud wheels, hopefully also better tire tread since that is very difficult to do in styrene. The wheels on the sprue images are in two halves so the tread pattern will not be anywhere near what is shown on the box-art. Theoretically it would be possible to cut off the six studs and glue them back in a 5-stud pattern but in practice it will be difficult ...
Maybe there are already suitable resin wheels out there somewhere ...

Good opportunity for FC Modeltips to do more Spanish decals!

Checking out one of the ancient Italeri Land Rover kits in my stash, the only real all new tool sprue is the one with the hardtop parts. Some of the other sprues have been slightly modified like the clear parts sprue and the one with the canvas roof with a few added parts. Also the canvas sides on another sprue don't have "windows" in them anymore.

That optional dashboard is good news.

Now I'm hoping the price will stay reasonable, but I think I'll buy at least one, despite having half a dozen Italeri or Revell (rebox of Italeri) in my stash already.

Only criticiscm (besides the fact those wheels could have been retooled) is lack of military decals in the box, but maybe they have another boxing planned?


And yes the BSM resin wheels are superb!

This hardtop is good news to me. Although it is tempting to do the Spanish version I think I may buy this kit and make it a UK Motorways Service roadworks van. I've already sourced decals for it. The only thing keeping me back was the kit - I was going to use the Revell soft top which was not very realistic...a hardtop makes much more sense
PS If anybody needs the Revell decal sheet let me know as I don't need it. It features Dutch and UK reggie I believe.
