They borrowed 20 upgraded 2A6M from 2A6 from German stocks for use in Afghanistan. These were then returned and ex-Dutch 2A4 were upgraded and supplied.

There is...

Leopard 2A4 CAN
Leopard 2A4M CAN
Leopard 2A6M CAN

The 2A4M CAN and the 2A6M CAN are operationally ready tanks and could deploy very quickly.

The 2A4 CAN lacks the add-on armour on the lower hull and does not have the welded on mounts for additional armour on the hull and turret. It is primarily used for training in Canada.

All tanks are in service together.

They are all painted in CARC green.

The 2A4M CANs have gone through Commander sight upgrades over the past year so they look different than the Hobby Boss Leopard 2A4M CAN kit.

The 2A4 CAN cannot be build OOB using the Meng Leopard 2A4 kit as it needs multiple modifications.

There is no current conversion set for the rebuilt 2A6M CAN.

If you are looking for reference material of the current versions get in touch with me for my DVDs...

Nick, you're likely thinking of the Pz87s (Leopard 2A4) Canada bought from Switzerland. In keeping with Swiss neutrality, they'd been striped of all weapons, making them ideal for conversion to ARVs and AEVs. With our paltry defence budget, the Canadian Forces have had to learn to shop for bargains.

The present Leo 2A4M in Canadian service has gone though a few modifications, other than the new upgraded site. The lower front hulls are being fitted with lifting eyes to aid in mounting the new mine rollers, plough & dozer blade. The present Leo 2A6M's that are still going through rebuild, not one looks the same, all are at various state of modifications from east to west coast. The Leo 2A6M's are also being fitted with lower hull lifting points as well, and maybe the whole fleet will see these upgrades.

If you need any help let me know, as I have photos and how to convert the MENG Leo 2A4 kit to make it a Canadian version.

I have lost of photos & reference material that show the current upgrades, just message me and will help you out.

Cheers

Anthony
