Hi gents!
Iīd like to show you my first diorama ever. It began as a lonely MH-47E kit with some PE parts, but as I was going on with it, I asked myself: Letīs try a diorama, a new challenge. I have never done any before, so I tried to make a pinnacle landing. But as I was talking to a friend about the project, he told me to make something special, not a pinnacle landing, many pictures found on the web. So he messed me up and it was finally a water extraction. The diorama took me 4 months an was finished on June 2015.
The helicopter is an Italeri MH-47E SOA. I tried to make a Night Stalkers unit. I added some Eduard PE and extra stuff on the bay. The Zodiac is a F470 and itīs scratch made. Soldiers are from 2 Caesarīs kits. Water was so difficult to make and I had to do and undo some times.
I hope you like it
Some pics of the bay
I also added some leds and optic fiber lo light up the cockpit and nav lights.
This is the final result
Best wishes for the new year!!

Nice idea and cool concept ! This is a nice dio for sure. Did you consider leaving the rotors off to show them in motion ?

Hi, Jerry!!
Thanks for your comments. I did, but once the helo was completely fixed and I didnīt dare to move rotors again. I also considered to apply some movement effects, as seen is some tutorials, but finally, I didnīt do that.
Thanks again!

Looks great overall. Excellent details on the interior of the helo. One issue with the helo though, MH-47Es are black overall w/OD green markings, not green with black markings.

Hi HeavyArty! Thanks for your comments!! As fas as I know, 169th SOAR helicopters are not black. As I could read on many posts over the net, they are a mixture on a Helo drab with black. The final color on my MH is due to the weathering, pigments, oils.... This picture shows you what the original color was before weathering.
It's true that it finally looked more greenish than I wanted.
Thanks again for your words!!
David, I'm glad you like it.
Cheers!

Right, there is a bit of Helo Drab Green in the mix, but they are mostly black and appear black, especially in small scale. Your initial paint job looked much closer to the actual color. As you say though, the weathering made it appear too green.

Thanks again for your info. Itīs very appreciated. I guess that this MH wonīt be the only 160th helicopter Iīll make, so Iīll try to match the painting as you say.
Best regards!

If you decide to build any more 160th SOAR helos in the future, Werner's Wings has a few great decal sets for them that include the correct OD Green markings, and other markings for them.

I know, Gino. I was thinking about get some decals for the Chinook, but finally I decided to go on with the kitīs ones. There is where I got many ideas, including the painting, for the MH. He has a very very very good tutorial building one 47E, but 1/35 instead 1/72. Werner made an amazing work with that helo.
Thanks anyway for the links!!

Yes, Floyd's MH-47E came out awesome. I have seen it in person. Good luck on your future builds.
