Were any M10A1 equipped with the 17Lb gun?
Were the designations Mk IC and Mk IIC derived from the turret counterweights? FX: mid wedge counterweights = Mk IC and "Duckbill" = Mk IIC?

Were any M10A1 (Ford engine) actually supplied to U.K. And Commonwealth armies? I thought the US Army, having standardised on that engine, had taken them all. During WW2 the upgunned vehicles were invariably referred to as 'M10 17pdr' so any mention of Achilles of any mark appears to be a post-war nomenclature. I've yet to see an authoratative account of how the name arose but if all the 17pdr conversions were indeed done to diesel M10s, there may not have been much need to differentiate marks by turret type.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about the US standardisation on the Ford engine. So most likely no M10A1 17lbr. I am sure that there was a distinction between the mid turret and the late turret, ( MkI, MkII ) but just need it confirmed.
