Mark Nicodemus reviews the Panzer I Ausf. A ohne Aufbau Crew Training Vehicle in 1/35th scale, this model is from Tristar but HobbyBoss has now taken on the moulds.

I have the Tristar release yet to be built, so this will be a useful reference. Just curious why you mention " Sprues should have been molded in gray..."

tataqui, As the vehicle was only ever Panzer Grey, logic would say the sprues should be molded in grey. Just a personal opinion. Glad you liked the review. I'll start building this next month for "The Other Guys" campaign.

This family of Panzer 1 tank from tristar has the best non PE interior of any manufacturer. The ABER Panzer 1 interior is better but it will take about 50 hours to make (speaking from experience)

Plastic color is irrelevant...unless you're not in the habit of painting your models.

If the hull construction is similar to the other Tristar Pz I series, then some modelers will be put off by the construction method. The hull parts have chamfered, or bevelled, edges, so the corners come together at a point, instead of the more usual butt-joint joins by other companies. More care will be required to ensure straightness of the joins, and in clean-up of sprue-gate nubs, otherwise you'll end up with a crooked hull, and be cursing the "poor fit", and "total unbuildability" of the kit. Other than careful construction practices, the Tristar Pz I kits were as good, or better, than the Dragon equivalents.

I agree Leo, I've build one already, you have to be careful and the build end result is excellent. I bought another one after I was finished. I'am going to put a anti-aircraft gun on it. The link tracks as far as I'am concerned are not a low point but a HIGH point of this kit. This is only a in box review.

While it is nice to see that the moulds for this interesting little kit are still available it does become confusing after awhile: Tamiya with Italeri, Dragon/Italeri, and now Tristar/HobbyBoss, etc. It doesn't make much difference to most of us, but it leads to possible confusion as to who has what and when they'll be releasing it again.

I agree.. especially with some companies that work with multiple vendors. Revell, for example, reboxes ICM, Italeri, Zvezda, Matchbox, Hasegawa, etc!

I have this cute little kit...very impressed and I like the interior especially. The figures are neat too, with unbloused trousers, etc.

the case of Tristar is totally different, the Tristar no longer exists' ... dead .... the HobbyBoss bought in its molds
