Does anyone know who makes aftermarket or otherwise tires for early U.S. vehicles?
I'm looking for something similar to this:

Ken do you want wheel sets or tyres only? What sizes do you want? I may or may not be able to help.

Cliff, I'm really just looking for the tires with that tread pattern from above. The size is 27mm in diameter.
If it's the whole wheel it's okay too.

Well...

My first guesses might be WC-4, 6, or 13. But, I'm inclined to guess WC-55 (M6 'Fargo' AT Gun Carrier) by looking at the photo...

like this Ken

let me know how many and when because if that is the one you want I can get it cast in a resin which is soft like rubber for you but it will probably take a few weeks. I am not sure of a price but I will find out for you.

Very, very close! Hmmm, where did that tire (tyre - silly Aussie spelling ) originally come from?

Here is the current tire:

now I could say that it is a trade secret #:-) but I won't!

a friend purchased a "tomy" kit for me of the Chevrolet gun tractor (CMP F.A.T.) this was the Italeri kit reboxed for the Japanese market. But there were changes to the kit and these included these rubber directional pattern tyres with seperate rims. I have at present fitted new rims for a project to 3 of them and altered one to a smaller rim size with the LRDG chev rims in them to suit some aussie conversions I will be doing soon. I have one left which is the reason I offered to get it molded for you. (I may do this anyway) The resin is called flexicast and is coloured dk grey or black and as it's name inplies it is flexible like rubber. My mate estimates about $4.50 AUD per tyre to do this way.

Guys,

Correct me if i'm wrong...but from looking at the photograph, and the tire on the right, those don't appear to be inflated tires. Rather they look like a metal rim with a rubber tread on them. I don't see the thickness an air-filled tire would have. Instead i see something akin to a tractor type metal wheel. but, with a rubber tread attached for a smoother road ride.

comments?

Nope, no tractor wheels. Real tires with air in those.

Beg to differ with you...and whats with the WW1 type helmet? These aren't U.S.G.I's. so, the vehicles could have some sort of a retro fitted wheel attached.

Nope, again.
Okay so that last pic (color) was of a prototype being tested in the States. Yes, U.S. GIs.
I even noticed the tire pattern is a bit different from what I'm looking for.

Here is a real honest to goodness tire, complete with air.

Kglack,

The helmet in the picture was worn my US military personnel into 1942. Refer to pictures of Pearl Harbor, Bataan and Wake Island and you will see the WW1 style helmet. The new M1 helmet was not in sufficient supply at the start of WW2.
