Ever since working on my early M3 Stuart project, I learned that black leather was the color of the seats in early vehicles. Brown leather came later. Canvas later still.
I put brown leather into my Sherman and got "jumped on" by a Shermanaholic - until I produced a reference and photos. Never say never...
To be safe, I'd use either brown leather or Khaki canvas because the M10 is a later WW II vehicle. I'm fairly sure black leather would have been uncommon by then.
(Guess I should duck now - huh?)

My modeler painted my M-10's seat in brown leather, probably according to Tamiya's instruction sheet (I bought Tamiya's because it's the cheapest M-10). The page that
shows my M-10 is on a free space at hypermart.net so I think I can't show a picture here.
(Let me try anyway) :
Please go to http://modelmaniac.hypermart.net/model10d.htm to see a heavily weathered M-10, plus equally weathered Gen. Patton's Command Car, plus many others.
