Hello,
I use Tamiya paints to paint my 1/35 armor. I would like to use the AK Interactive enamel dust colors for weathering.
Can I use the AK enamels over the Tamiya acrylics?
Once again, thank you for your time.

As far as I know general rule is to use enamels on acrylics and acrylics on enamel. Just change type of paint or other weathering stuff with every layer.

You can, I would suggest a coat of Future or acrylic clear coat first.

Clear cote is not neccesary as enamel paint will stick better to the flat and not so smooth surface.

I have had some of the AK stuff eat through acrylic paint, the Ammo stuff does not, but AK does. I find that a gloss coat allows for better flow of enamel washes, especially pins washes.

Hmm, never had such issues but I agree that some specifics are more aggressive then others. I also agree that gloss is better for wash but filters should be applied for flat surface. So as many modelers so many ways. However it is safe to first try the new wash/filter/other stuff just to avoid unpleasant surprises.

like the others say no worries,Enamel over acrylics or vice-versa dont give any problem if cured,ii fact if you hare gentle and you wait enough also Enamel on Enamel is possible,i tried with AK and Ammo

For me wash is better on satin/gloss,filters on Matt

Thanks everyone! We can now start selecting weathering mediums to use.

Personally I prefer the Enamel products or oils, stink but I find them much more 'controllable then the acrylics

Yes you can just be careful what solvent you use that doesn't dissolve the Tamiya paint.
