I've heard the reprints of earlier works were more like photocopies. The photos are not as good. But maybe the publisher has improved?

I'd heard much the same thing, which is why I've held off buying the reprints. But then I can't afford the originals ........ I believe it is the case that the original plates or artwork (offset litho?) no longer exist and the publishers have simply taken page scans of original paper copies. Photo quality is reputed to be poor and plans perhaps not trustworthy. But the text, tables, lists, etc etc are all still valid even if not the highest print quality.
Amazon have the ones in print at reasonable prices, in the UK at least.

For the simple fact I can't afford the originals I've invested in these new printings. Are they as good? No, but they are certainly worth their price and now I have nearly every reprint in my possession at fractions of the cost of the originals. What's an original Firepower cost on the open market, approaching $1000? Yeah, I've spent about $200 over the last 3 years for the 4 copies I have (Abrams, Pershing, Sherman, Patton). They are excellent resources.

That looks awesome! As soon as the print becomes available again I'll probably place an order.

They had reached a pre-order threshold and they upgraded the graphics which added a few months to the shipping, and btw mine is on the way.

I just checked and it's now available. I was hoping it wouldn't be available for a few months so I could save up a bit to get it.

I was extremely keen to get one, until I saw the price of the shipping was an extra $35!!! The book for $50 was doable but not for $85.
On the up side it looks like the pictures are quite good and not the photocopies everyone was worried about.

When you consider that the original I purchased in Australia in 1989 was well over $120 the price is very reasonable even including the shipping. I got two shipped for the same shipping price and am very happy with the price and quality of the reproduction - on par with the original.
