Btw, how's the old AMT/ERTL General Dynamics M1 Abrams kit?

Anyone built it? Is it a total junk?

It's the Esci kit. Junk with some salvageable bits. it is a kit of the pre-production series of prototypes . The only worthwhile things were the link and length track and the decals for "laze and blaze" the Garfield the cat M1 from the CAT trophy.
But if you need an M1 turret to put on a better detailed hull and you are willing to up detail the turret, go for it.
ESCI did their 1/72 kit at the same time and the 1/35 looks like a blown-up braille scale kit. What looks crisp in 1/72 is very muddy in 1/35.

Ah, thank you for the info. So the old Tamiya M1 kit (35124) is way to go.

If anyone can provide enough detailed photos of both vehicles, then he should do.

Right now even that is only worth while for the turret and gun. You really should use a better detailed lower hull by back dating an M1A1 kit. It's only a question of the NBC over pressure system and engine deck access hatches. The Dragon ot Trumpeter Panther 2 is good for that. It also gives me the anti slip as the refurbished M1 I crewed had as well as a bustle rack but not the extra turret armor of a true M1IP. We even had a few with M1A1 notched fenders and revised headlight guards.
But the project is on hold because I want to give the companies more time to come out with a new kit.
You believe that I never had the chance to get pictures like I did with M60s because I spent all my time as an instructor.
