I am taking on a new diorama project involving the TBD-1 Devastator. I will post mostly over on Aeroscale but will try to keep you up to speed.
Years ago, Shep Paine, did a dio of 1/48 sitting on top of the water after ditching. I am not attempting to recreate that dio but do a different twist with some features which were heretofore unknown to me on the TBD-1.
I will keep an eye on all of you from the shadows.
Thanks in advance and your comments and criticisms are always welcome!

No, there was another Paine did for Monogram's 1/48 Devastator kit decades ago. It had two guys on the wing attempting to board a life raft in front of the plane. Similar situation, just different plane.
I personally think the plane is the easy part; the water is the beast.

That is the project of Paine's that I was referencing. It is an amazing project and so is this Avenger. Great work in both of them!

There is also a very major feature difference on the Devastator when ditching in the ocean and I am going to try to add that detail. It is something that I didn't know about until recently!

No problem, Pablo...
I will try to post a photo of Mr. Paine's work at a later date when I am not at my work computer. Apparently the AF doesn't want me to do anything...

It will be a diorama of the plane that crash-landed in the water?
I have plans to make a diorama sea from aircraft attacking U-boat. Beaufighter will be suspended on transparent rod over the sea, and the models will be at different scales. Beaufigter 1/48 and U-boot 1/400. I saw a picture like a diorama on Pinterest, impressive.

Yes, you see so much done up in Pacific schemes. People seem to think we didn't have any ships or planes in the Atlantic.

Sounds like a good project! And there were more than one plane that was landed at sea.
I have been doing some research and found some interesting facts about ditching a Devastator properly... and the equipment provided for such a landing. It is a detail that was overlooked in all previous dioramas.
That is why I find discussion and research interesting and helpful!
Thanks again for a great discussion!
