Half way down this website, http://firedirectioncenter.blogspot.com/2013/06/decisive-battles-khalkhin-gol-nomonhan.html

There is a small picture of a knocked out Japanese 6 wheeled staff car being examined by curious soviet soldiers.

Apparently the same car seen from the other side:

It somewhat resembled the Mercedes w31 6 wheel staff car high level nazi personnel often use for parades. However, the grill seems different. Does anyone know if this is a version of the Mercedes w31, or was it a different model or made by a different manufacturer?

Difficult to make out in the grainy photo but the grille looks similar to the Isuzu.

It's just a guess, but this one may be related to the six Hudson Special cars delivered to the Japanese army in 1933. Later a Japanese chassis was used for this type of cars.

Here are two variants, a 6-wheeled one and a 4-wheeled one :

Here's a 1932 Hudson Special. Only the rearmost wheels were driven. The spares were idler/support wheels :

Howdy

It looks like a more robust militarized version of the Model 93 (1933) staff car.

which was based on the Hudson and Studebaker chassis, until the Japanese developed their own chassis...

no idea if it really is, but I thought I'd throw it out there..
