Would be nice to see one in styrene or maybe a resin conversion.
I wonder how much they "adapted" the hull ?
"Primus uses the modified armoured hull of the proven United Defence (now BAE Systems) M109 155mm self propelled howitzer. "

"By April 2000, the first working prototype was rolled out, using a vehicle chassis adapted from a United Defense armoured chassis (the Universal Combat Vehicle Platform; UCVP) which includes components from the US M109 Paladin howitzer, M2 Bradley IFV & M8-AGS."

Geno will be here soon to put out the full deal, but I think the chassis is actually from the Bradley, with the M109 turret. It's supposed to get the ancient M109 drivetrains out of Army service and make them partially compatible with the Bradley's.

From what I can gather, it is an indigenous howitzer built for Singapore. "SAF needed the Primus to weigh less than 30 tons and be no wider than 3 meters, for it to move across bridges and through the local vegetation. Hence the decision was made to develop a completely new self-propelled howitzer."
It isn't really based on the M109, but on the Future Combat System chassis that BAE was working on. It includes components from the M109, Bradley & M8-AGS. It doesn't look like it is based that much on the M109. To me, this looks like it is only based on the M109 as far as the basic shape and maybe the barrel. The hull and turret are not from an M109. The running gear looks like Bradley running gear minus the front sprockets. The rest looks all new.
You are referring to the M109A7 PIM which is the next-gen US Army M109. It uses an all-new, Bradley-based hull and running gear, new T161 track, and the M109A6 Paladin turret on top. It will also be fitted with a CROWS II RWS.

The SAF Primus SPG's are regular visitors to Waiouru, NZ,where they come to conduct live firing. There was a posting about it on the NZ Army Facebook site on 16 January - https://www.facebook.com/OfficialNZArmy -
