Hello out there, I need some assistance regarding the color of certain German Paratroop gear. From the research I have been able to do, it seems the bread bag, canteen, ammo and machine pistol pouches were painted in "Luftwaffe Blue", what colors or color combinations, either Tamiya or Vallejo best match this color. Thank you in advance. Juan.

G'day Juan
I think that the bread bag was quite probably a bluish colour, but the others are most likely still the normal colours. Ammo pouches - black grey, MP pouches - canvas (maybe lightened a bit), canteen - leather brown with a black top.
Blue grey is probably a good colour for the bread bag.
Regards
Rob

G'day Juan
Me again. The pictures below, which are from "German Soldiers of World War Two" published by Histoire & Collections, may help.

Juan,
It depends on which period of the war your modeling. If early in the war the pictures above are accurate, but you would see some equipment as the Army used. The first Regiment of Fallschirmjagers were transferred from the Army. As the war progressed supplies were more uncertain and you would see more Army equipment used.

Thank you Rob, thank you Irvin. As far as the best Blue Grey color goes, i.e. Tamiya, Vallejo, AK, a little more research is in order. As far as a time period goes, I'm looking at the campaign in Sicily or the Italian campaign (Monte Cassino), thank you again. Juan.

If the figures are 1944 then you have a lot of freedom on what colors you use. for the bread bag can be any shade of tan to olive or bluegrey. the gas mask canister can be olive, field grey or bluegrey.

You'll find that this is a very helpful site at least for pictures of the equipment.
