And Takom hits it out of the park. An M47 and an M47EM ! And the M47 shown has specific features not on the Italeri kit. And at last a diesel engined updated M47EM. (Basically an M47 updated to M48A3 specs; diesel engine, revised fire controls, deleted bow gun, personnel heater and more.)

Sorry for the title, I wrote the news with Tiran and after publishing it noticed Takom also announced two new M47s.

Looks like one of their releases for the M47 will be the M47E1/M47E2 mods, which the Spanish and Iranians used (other countries as well). Upgrades to the "E" series included the 105mm gun and a morphed chassis from the M48, although some of the E series mods maintained the original 90mm the M47 is known for. Will be adding these goobers to the stash along with the four M47's I'm working on now. The aftermarket will explode once these jewels hit the streets (which will be good for the Italeri kit as well)!!

Not a huge 50s-60s+ fan did anyone put a 105 in this or was the turret just too small?

Oh great! Just when I've accumulated £60-odd of parts for a Tiran 4 and more for a T5 and have been waiting for the MiniArt T-54 and T-55. I wonder if they'll have changed the starfish wheel construction in response to the reviews about the spurious join line. There are 2 places they could have put it which would have matched real construction, but they chose a 3rd place ....... One imagines that a T5 will follow the T4. Likewise, one imagines that MiniArt might go down that road too.

Yes the 105mm was installed by a few contractors/countries. Most notable the Spanish...

I'm thrilled to see real offerings rather than more paper-panzers. Now how about the Bergepanther that we've all been clamouring about?

Tiran 4 is a long story, Gilbertsakr.
I picked up the Skif kit for less than a tenner, soon realising that was about a tenner more than it's worth. I thought of backdating the Tamiya T5, but that has problems. Then Takom and MiniArt both announced T54/55's so I thought I'd wait.
The Takom T4 is potentially tempting, especially if it has spider wheels. But then the latest MiniArt stuff is remarkable. I see they currently only show the T-54 for 2017 release, no T-55 yet. I'd like to replace my unbuilt Tiran 5 project with something better than the Tamiya kit, and I'm also looking for base vehicles for a couple of SLA APC-55's, turreted and open-top. I've just ordered the Samer Kassis turreted conversion, and the open-top version needs a kit with interior.
I imagine I'll pick up the Takom T4 and a T5 or three if they do that too. By the time I haven't got round to building them, MiniArt's offerings should be available. I have the Legend Tiran 5 and DEF Tiran 4/5 conversions and a bunch of etch, barrels and other bits.

Thanks, Guilbert. Now I've unexpectedly retired 4 years earlier than planned I might actually get round to building something and not just stashing stuff! In between trying to wangle a paid or volunteer job at Bovington, that is .....
