My attempt to finally do an M110A2 in MERDC (summer). Using AK Interactive. Already managed to break off the auto-loader control levers. The unit depicted will be 4/17FA in 1981.

The MERDC is looking good. Did you do the smaller (sand and black) squiggles by hand w/a brush?

I started out the sand with putty snakes and an airbrush. Not real thrilled with the AK stuff so I went back and brush painted the sand and black with Vallejo.

Nice paint job.
Were the sand and black patches sprayed for real or painted with a brush? On the period pictures they look sharp-edged.

Looking great. I really like how the weathering came out with the MERDC. Great job.
Not necessarily replaced, just one of them swapped. You may already have noticed this, but both lights should be the same, so both right side (looking from the front) light should have an (gloss deep red - appears black) IR lens.
Hi Olivier, yes, usually the two dominant greens were spray painted and the smaller sand and black squiggles were hand painted w/a brush.

I found some MV lenses black the right size so I'm just going to pop them in the right position.
Gotta ask; where in the world did you find a pic for 4/17th?
I was purely speculating on the unit identifier since at the time we were a roundout to 18th Abn, but your picture makes more sense as 120th ARCOM. In either case great picture!

Just dumb luck. It is a pic I found on-line that had a pretty good shot of the front showing the headlights, nothing more. Glad it was helpful though.

Very nice! I've got a couple in my stash that I intend to do in NATO 3 Color from 4/20th FA from 1992 when I was Bn XO. We inactivated in 1993 when all of the RC Combat Arms units were withdrawn from the USAR and allocated to the ARNG. We were part of 428th FA Bde at the time, which for some reason after also inactivating, was re-activated at Ft. Sill and now is the school Bde. I'm pretty sure that during this period we were part of the 123rd ARCOM.
Very nice work!

Thanks!! It's really a decent kit that has held up over time. I'd like to see a new tool some day but for now it will do.

Very nice. The paint and finish came out great. It looks really nice in MERDC. The only additions that you may want to do are the driver's periscopes should be painted a dark, glossy color and it looks like the tail lights are not painted.

Good eye. Those are easy fixes. Also noticed the wire step on the left rear fell off.

You may want to add some dust and dirt to the tracks too. They look too uniformly rusted.
