Finally recieved this beauty after long and painful 3 months wait yesterday. So far, the kit is really great, proper Takom quality, i never had any issues with them. The only problematic part is the turret - the lower and the upper part don't fit together very nicely, prepare for some putty + sandpaper work (not yet done on mine). nothing too drastic though. Still havent decided on the camo, was thinking about winter camo but i will probably save that for the T34 i'll build sometimes soon as the next one.
so, we shall begin
finished turret build
fitting the turret on the parts of the hull for the first time
rear of the tank
it's just huge! comparison with M26
running gear

I'm curious as to why you attached all the detail parts before that was complete. Doesn't that make it more difficult?

Nice work Michael, I also have the T29E3 on the bench but have to pause to finish another project. Some thing I saw in "Firepower" the kit is modeled with the muzzle threads exposed, The original T29 had a muzzle brake and the E3 later had a protective cover on the threads when it was tested. Since its the same 105 as the T28 I am going to use the spare muzzle brake from the Dragon kit. I intend to model it as in service as if the war lasted another year, maybe OD and black.

Thanks all! Today i basically finished the rough build. Tracks and fenders are not attached yet, as i first need to paint the areas i wont be able to reach with airbrush properly once glued on.
Such a beautiful machine in my opinion, on of my all time fav pieces of armored machinery.
a few pics from today
because im an idiot, what else can i say haha. luckily wasnt too difficult to sand even with the details alreadt attached.

Looking good mate. I totally agree about the looks of this beast.
These early cold war heavies are extremely impressive to stand in front of. The M103 and Conqueror are the same, They are Huge!
Was the block in the rear of the turret a good fit? On the T30 everything was a better than expected fit until I joined the upper/lower turret together. That was a good fit but the rear turret plate that slots in the back was all sorts of trouble. I had to shave it down a fraction on the top for a good fit... after I had all those fiddly little parts on it!

Basically the same with this one, i guess they used pretty much the same form for moulding the lower and rear part of the turret for both models. I had to chop a bit of the rear deck down with a scalpel and sand/putty it afterwards. Nothing drastically difficult as i said tho, and basically the lousy fit of the turret base parts is the only downside of the kit, the rest fit extremely well together. Tracks were super easy to build, one of the easiest ones ive built, i didnt even have to use the template deck
