Who makes aftermarket antennas and antenna bases for modern US armor? I've been doing the stet he's sprue and gluing it to the kit part buy I'm just not very happy with that look.
I see somewhere, a guy had an aftermarket antenna base that was bent/curved like how they look when the antennas are pulled and tied over. Any ideas on those?
Lastley, how can I replicate the antennas pulled and strapped down? Are you guys using thin string or fishing line?
Like this
Oh one more thing, who makes AM tow shackles?
Thanks in advance.

For the antenna bases, Djiti's does a US Antenna Mount Set (35010) in resin that is really complete and includes straight and bent bases. It is really nice and goes for about $10. I prefer 0.020 rod for antennas myself. I heat the tip to mushroom it to represent the antenna safety ball.
There are plenty of other sets too, just check eBay for antenna bases.
For antenna tie downs, I use thin thread. It represents the thin rope they are made out of well. You can also use a small piece of PE scrap for the clip that attaches to the antenna.
There are a bunch of shackle options as well. Both RB Model and Aber do brass shackle sets.
RB set (Abner looks pretty much the same).
There are also a few 3D printed sets on Shapeways. They are just as nice and a bit cheaper for a bunch as compared to just four in the above sets.

I found these antenna bases from Arms Corps Models just a bit better than Djiti:

Orange Hobby makes the best I think.
They call it: Spring Antenna Mast Base for 1/35 South Korean Military Vehicles.. however, its the standard US/NATO version.
The base is an actual spring and the antenna is actually two pieces like the real fiber glass ones. It also bends at the spring properly.
Here's one that needs the mast painted, but you should leave the brass base bare or black.

For a rolled/stowed net, I've found the plastic/nylon outer scrubber mesh layer of some kitchen scrubbers work great. the nylon is wrinkled and swervey just like the real deal. You cut a patch of it, bunch it up where you want it, sirt some super glue and buch it up some more to give it some shapes...
This is kinda a crappy picture and not the best example, but you can see the netting bunched up in the turret basket.

I picked up some long acupuncture needles to use for antenna.
They are very flexible and easy to tie down.
Cheers Rob.

Hey Rob,
Sounds interesting. Do you have a picture of a built model. I'm curious how it works. Thanks in advance.
Best
