Hey guys,
I purchased My first brushes two years WIndsor and Newton's and Floquil.I want to know does anybody experiment with other brands and do they have the same results .I am interested in Model Master Brushes and some brushes from Micro mark the Golden Eagles and the new ones that are advertised to be hand made .I use the Robert Simmons from Squadron mailorder and some from the hobby shop they work great to I had one that I actually have in art class in High Scool that I use now in Modelling.
So whats your opinions?

Off hand I cant tell you the brand names..I do have a bunch. Theres a local art supply store right down the road and I will buy them as needed. I can tell you I buy quality ones. The Micromarks I have heard good things about are the drybrush set ,so I ordered them. Once they arrive and I try them out I will write a review on them. Dumb me ordered on line then realized they are 20 minutes from my house... #:-)

I've got one question...which flat brushes for general painting and which for drybrushing - soft or stiff?

If they are available in your area, you might try "Aqualon".

I didn't know anything on how to treat my brushes, cause after I was done painting, I done my final wash with dish soap, then I read that artical on how to maintain your brushes, and they said it is way better for your brushes to use a bar of soap, instead of dish soap, to work up a lather with bar soap then wash your brushes. They claimed to have many years experience, which was way more then I had so I'm following their directions, cause I can't afford to ruin a brush these days, but that artical describes all the different kinds of brushes and what they are made of, and best used for. If you are unfamiliar with brushes like me, then it is a must read, if you want to take care of your brushes. I believe it is called Cleaning and storing hand brushes part 1, and part 2 I hope this helps someone
