I need the dimensions of the T-55 engine fan. I tried google and did not get any good results.

I could not find anything online, or just did not find the right place, so I had to guess. I tired making a fan a couple times, but my eyes, and hands aren't what they used to be, so I opted to try 3D.
I came up with this design. Not 100% do to limitations, but good enough for what can be seen through the screens. I have good pictures of the inner walls where the fan mounts, so will make a simple insert for the fan to mount into. This will be for the Takom T-55. If the design works out I will look into breaking it down so I can cast it up.

Wonder how it compares in size to the cooling fan in a T-34. Appears to be similar in design.

Chris,
The T-34 fan is similar, but I'm not sure if it is the same size. I don't have any of the T-34 kits with interiors either. The T-55 fan is a simpler construction so I decided it would be best to make my own version.

I got the first look at the 3D printed fan, but I messed up the file and it came out in 2 pieces because there was a microscopic gap between the fins and the back plate.
I was looking over the options and noticed there was a stainless steel option. I looked at the pricing and it wasn't that much more than a plastic copy. I might try one in metal to see what the quality looks like. This might be a way to make the light guards.

After getting over a bad virus, and then getting conned into helping a friend move, I finalized some T-55 parts that I have up at Shapeways. Once I get the latest set of parts printed to check out the details I will let anyone interested know where to get these.
The idea with the fan was to make what could be seen through the screen. Many pictures of T-54/55's show the screen open or damaged. I also made up a fan plate to fill in under the fan. The rear most plate is easier to make with some plastic sheet.
I decided to make my own fuel line hoses with clamps after I could not find any. With the fittings are the base brackets for the rear fuel drums. There are holes in the parts, but due to printing issues they are undersized and will need to be drilled out. I made the hoses hollow.
The parts are sized for the Takon T-54/55's.

This was the best picture I could get. The fan shroud is wrong. I neglected to extend the long angle side over after making a change. It should be 55mm wide, the inner width of the Takom T-54/5 hull. And I forgot to turn the Takom deck plate over, so had to notch the long side for the grill thickness by 1mm.
I think the fan came out ok. I calculated it was 5.5mm by 18.75mm in 1/35th scale. My fitting to the Takom kit was good, but I need to get a new shroud printed for a final test fit. Once I get a MiniArt T-54B I will be able to make a shroud for that kit.
The brackets for the fuel drums and the fuel line fittings did not photograph very well.
By next week I plan to have the fan and the fuel parts available at Shapeways

I was out of town for a few days and returned to find I had a few orders for the T-55 parts.
If you get a set please let me know if there are any issues with them.
I designed the fan so there is a hole almost all the way through so it can by mounted on a shaft.
The fuel lines are also hollow, but the hole is very small due to the limitations of the printing process.
Thank you,
Randy

John,
I just had these up at Shapeways for a week or so. Once I get them on a model I will post some pictures, however that might be a few weeks away. BTW, the parts are tiny.
Thanks,
Randy

Thanks for the pictures. I hope I didn't miss count. I thought 15 was enough, with a couple extras. If I need to I can add more to the set.
I'm in the process of building the new MiniArt T-54B, and plan to use them on my model. With any luck I'll get to them in a week or so.
Finally finished rebuilding a wall in my storage area, and getting the dry wall on. Back to modeling!
