Dragon announces a new 1/35 scale plastic kit of the Flakpanzer IV Kügelblitz. Indeed, it bears absolutely no relation to the old kit. Instead, it makes judicious use of new components from Dragon’s revamped Panzer IV range.

Wasn't the Kugelblitz based on the flakpanzer Mobelwagen hull, rather than the base Panzer IV? The upper hull should be a rectangle, not sloped inward at the front like the gun tank hull. This was required to fit the ball turret which would not fit the sloped sides and roof upper hull of the gun tank..

There is a photo reported to be a Kugel Blitz hull in Berlin, that one has only 3 return rollers, not 4. It has extended side hull plates at the front as well as the old tow mounts, just like the Mobelwagen hull.

I also recall that it does not seem to have any evidence the jack block mounts or spare road wheel box were fitted to the side, which would be commensurate with the Mobelwagen fit out.

I guess you can always build it OOB as a what if 1946 build.... if you are prepared to spring for the cost.

Another case of new and improved replacing old and not so good. Sooner or later Dragon will have updated and re-released EVERYTHING that they've ever produced. Hmmm.

"as well as a brand new turret that can rotate 360º".

360°! WOW, I think this is a first for a tank model kit.

"as well as a brand new turret that can rotate 360º".
In the horizontal axis presumably - vertically, with the guns mounted, that'd be a neat trick?
