I am going to be milwaukki in early may this year 2017
And would like recommendations for great model shops to visit
I think but not sure that panther hobbies has closed ? That was a great sorce of books is there any where like that now
As even greenfield and bear hobbies have long gone
Any one be of help to let me know where else .
Oh I know about happy hobby love both stores ...

Well Ian,
Model empire is about the best in Milwaukee. One of the 3 happy hobbies has burned down.
South of Milwaukee just over the Illinois state line "museum" with tanks and some aircraft. The quotes are due to the condition of the collection. Friends hobby in Kenosha ( near the museum)is a decent place the owner is a little different. Drop me a pm if I can help you out.

one other thing 4th Friday in April is an AMPS meeting and 2nd Friday in May is IPMS.

The Museum mentioned is the Russell Military Museum. Although a lot of the stuff outside is not in the best shape, the inside exhibits are decent enough to be worth a visit. Here's a link: http://www.russellmilitarymuseum.com .

Oh... And Panther Hobbies has indeed closed the physical shop, but they still vend online.
