I know I have too many projects on the go and should try focus on one at a time but keep getting distracted.
Attempting to follow a detailed step by step guide to painting a Boxer in a recent issue of Military Modelcraft International using the black and white technique. Or as advised dark grey and light grey.
It's the Revell kit which is nice and straightforward. Good moulding and fit with very nice detail. And not a huge number of parts other than for the suspension.
Preparing the highlights
Painted in the modern German desert scheme using Mig acrylics. But didn't like their Sand Brown. I'm green/brown colourblind but compared to ref photos it didn't look right to me so mixed my own
Think I went a bit too heavy on the wash. Left it too long before cleaning off. Will try tone it down with filters and a dust coat
Next up I'm going to try a dirt layer in the wheel wells using pigments, wash and white glue mixed

Thanks Celt. Now that I have an airbrush and getting used to it, it wasn't that difficult. Doing the dark & light grey shading and then white on the raised bits by ordinary brush only took one session at the bench. I'm no expert but happy with how that step turned out after the base coat was applied. Did go a bit too heavy with the wash though....but then I can never tell when is enough until it's too late

nice work, and leave it alone! the wash is perfect, and reflects a well worn unit.
I can't wait to see the rest and the finished project.

Thanks Kenneth! Quite pleased with it. Kit is relatively simple but happy with how the new technique for me came out. And the Boxer is a lovely shape which helps....very futuristic looking
