I've got a problem with my airbrush that's driving me crazy...
It is Revell's Flexible brush, double action, internal mix, gravity-feed, etc., I own it for about a month or so and it worked just fine 'till now. Now it started to split/splutter and I can't find the reason for this behaviour. The brush itself is very clean, its shining on the outside and inside, there's no paint residue on the needle or nozzle. I also tried all the pressures on the compressor and all mixtures of paint from 100% paint to 100% thinner and it doesn't make any big difference. Also, when painting, the nozzle doesn't get clogged up, where is the problem then? Maybe a deffect nozzle of needle or both?

What are you using for the air? Could be moisture if the weather has changed recently and if you don't have a moisture trap. Could also be little scratches in the needle that catch a few paint particles occasionally only to release them when the pressure rises a bit.

I use classic compressor with 24 liter airtank without a watertrap but I also tried with pressure can and its the same. So there must be something with the airbrush itself, right?

I'm guessing a slightly bent needle or tiny cracks in the nozzle. Moisture would bproduce a sudden release of water that would bead up in enamel or stain acrylics. (Can you tell I've been there?)

Whoa, I've found the cause of this problem... The problem is compressor, well not really, its the air, which is obviously quite dirty, because there is no intake air-filter on compressor and I haven't buy outtake air-filter/watertrap yet. I went to a store for fresh can of propellant and cleaned the brush again and the results was as they should be. Then I connected my brush to airtank and it started to split. So i went back to can and everything was normal again I guess I'll have to buy airfilter very soon. Is watertrap also an airfilter?

No the water trap is not an airfilter but it is a filter for cleaning water out of the air. The air around has has varying quantities of water in it as humidity. The water trap takes most of this out.

hope that helps.

May be a stupid question ,but, have you drained your compressor?...does it have a drain on the underside???

There is a small valve on the bottom, I already unscrew it and nothing came out, like water or dust or something else. Should I do something else with it?

Turn it on and let it build up some pressure..40 50 lbs, shut it down then open the drain valve. Air will help force any water out. Also tilt it to the drain hole as it de-pressurizes( is that a word?)

I did that and I opened the valve too much, so there was ice flying out and the tank almost took off Now I left the valve opened and we'll see what will be in the bowl in the morning. Any other tips how to clean the tank? And I think I should buy an air filter, cause my place is very dusty and there are no filters instaled on the compresor.
