Hi, Russian armor folks! I have that Takom T-55A kit which notoriously comes with the incorrect "RMSh" track-set that prevents one from building that "Marina" tank pictured on the box art "from the box". Marina had what I believe to be the old-style "OMSh" tracks and not those RMSh tracks included in the kit. So it appears that I'll need either to rob the OMSh set from some other kit, or get some AM tracks. I would greatly prefer to use styrene links and NOT resin or metal.
Can anyone tell me what AM set(s) will serve my need? Will the Bronco styrene "OMSh" links that are sold as separates reference some KV- tanks work for the T-55A?
Thanks! Bob

Mike;
Hey! That would SAVE my day (and my hoped-for build!).
The Takom T-54-B kit does indeed come with the very track set that I need.
I'll pm you if you tell me your id link.
Cheers! Bob

Don't forget that the sprockets are different for the OMSh tracks.

Hi Bob,
Cool I have just replied to your PM & as Oliver has mentioned the drive sprockets are different so if your Marina's won't work let me know.
Oliver many thanks for reminding me about Bob needing the correct drive sprockets too!!
Cheers Mike

I think both sets of sprockets are included with the kit.

Best I know, there ARE two different sprocket sets on each sprue, so I expect that there are indeed both types... The same sprue is used for several Takom kits, and some have the OMSh tracks, others the RMSh set, so...
But of course I'll have to check them out carefully and be sure which I should use! I'll bet that the 55A instructions specify using the "RMSh" sprocket, as those are the tracks provided in that kit.
Thanks for the heads-up, guys!

Hi,
If there are shared sprues between the Takom T-54/55 kits, chances are high that you will find the OmsH sprocket in your kit.
The Takom OmsH tracks are quite nice in my opinion, I have Miniarm too, both the resin and the metal one fits to the Takom kit, though a tad tight around the sprocket.
Cheers,
Adam

Yup! Both types of sprockets are provided on that common-to-all-Takom 55 (and 55B) kits wheels-and-sprockets sprue. I got 'em!
Thanks be to Mike Rennie for the great assist with the right track set and to all for the kindly heads-up regarding being sure to use the correct sprocket (it would be all me to go right to that RMSh sprocket, clean it up, assemble it, and fix it to the stub... Build up a nice OMSh track-run... and then discover that the track run won't quite fit! )
I will be sailing along with Marina soon!
Thanks, ALL, and Happy Easter, too!

Hi Bob, just so you're aware, "Marina" was a Polish built T-55A, the kit gives you a Czechoslovakian T-55A. There are differences on the engine deck, a Polish deck has a square air cleaner hatch. Also the wading covers over the engine grilles are slightly different. I hope that helps. PM me if you need photos, I can't work out how to post them here.Yup! Thanks Tim - wish I would have had these to send to Takom for the T-55 Marksman! Hope they get it right.
