I guess the pictured Jeep is a Mitsubishi Model J24A "Type 73" (based on the CJ-3B)
A few more pics here
Here's the kit variant, fitted with two Type 64 anti-tank missile pods :

So using the old Dragon theory that the vehicles in the background would be released soon is that a half-track behind the Type-3?

The Type 3 is not new and was released around 8 years ago. This release probably has the new extra parts for the basic hull interior that they are adding to some of the other Type 97 based kits. So I doubt the halftrack is in the near future. But who knows?

A side note on the Type 3 kit is this: -- (再生産&履帯リニューアル)Running it through an online translator results into: "Reproduction & Crawlband Renewal".
I'll take "crawlband" as reference to tracks, and looking at the most recent Fine Molds re-releases, the rubber band tracks were replaced with link-and-length ones.
So this may be one (if not all) of the improvements to this upcoming kit.

"Reproduction" might refer to an upgrade in the tooling. Maybe new parts, but maybe just improved tooling on the original parts.
