Hi all
I got the current ROK army camo scheme is a straight copy of one of the US MERDC variations.
The Academy instructions call for a Forest Green, a Light Brown and a Sand shades plus Black.
Academy does not provide any Tamiya references for these colors. Could anyone give me some correspondances between the real paints and Tamiya refs?
TIA
Olivier

Salut Olivier
Here are the FS numbers I've found that may be OK for the ROK camo scheme :
Field drab FS 30118
Forest Green FS 34079
Sand FS 30277
And here's a conversion chart :

Hello Olivier,
I have used Tamiya Field Grey to good effect for the green. I do not know the stock number. Right now, that is all that I can recall off the top of my head.
Is this for your K9?
Respectfully,
Allen

If I may be of assistance, the "Filed Grey" is XF-65.
Cheers,

Thank you all for the quick answers.
If I'm correct field grey is a kind of green.
So what color would be good for the light brown?
@ Allen, you're right. I asked for the K9.

Oliver, the Field Grey is indeed greenish and the pictures below should give a fair indication of how it turns out on a model with a medium green styrene (i.e.-no primer).
Cheers,
Jan

Field Drab 30118 XF-52:1, XF64:1, and XF-2:1
Sand 30277 XF-57:4 and XF-63:1

Hello Rich, Jan, Henri and Olivier,
The colors and numbers you provided are the ones that I used for many years to do the winter green MERDC colors on US armor, good job Rich. I liked the Field Grey as it appeared to have a realistic faded look out of the bottle.
Jan, I always appreciate assistance, especially when I am trying to provide assistance to a fellow modeler, thank you.
I will look forward to seeing your artillery piece, Olivier. I bought a metal barrel to depict the longer version of the main gun on mine. It adds about 25mm to the overall length. I intend to start a ROKA BMP-3 in the MERDC scheme shortly.
Respectfully,
Allen
