I scored a set on evilBay last week, got them in hand today. Just took a quick look at them before supper, and I have to say they're pretty sweet. The MOLLE webbing on the body armor is well defined, and the heads are pretty nice, too. I think they'll look great along with that Meng Abrams sitting in the to do line. Here's hoping the Army figures are as nice. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow, depending on how well painting the entry way goes.

My set is in the mail too. Can't wait to get them in. The preview pics of them look great.

Do most real tank crews have just bare MOLLE torsos with no vest pouches or holstered pistols?
I saw the kit, but thought it was kind of spartan with no pouches or holstered pistols on the crewmembers. I know there's Live-Resin pouches and holsters one can add to the figures, but I was kind of hoping for more gear with the Miniart set.
The photos of the figures do look very nice though, and the plastic top-notch.

Peter,
I can't speak to what Army tankers do today, but the Marine tankers and armored vehicle crewmen tend to go light on the pouches on their vests, fewer things to snag entering/exiting through hatches and go with their pistol and an M9 mag pouch or two. The gear is about right, although the goggles are the old Sun, Dust and Wind type instead of the ESS goggles we were using.

Not being that familiar with modern US uniforms per se, how difficult would it be to convert these figures to blackhawk crew/door gunners ?
Looks to me like the overalls are very similar to a flight suit but the torso would need swapping out for something, is anything more suitable available ? Obviously Live Resin is the way forward for the heads.

If you are asking about 1/35 scale flight crew, Reedoak's figures may be a better starting point for you:

I agree with Richard. It would be easier to just get Reedoak's excellent figures for modern helo crews (Army, USAF, USN/USMC). Reedoak has done an excellent job on these figures and they look awesome. I have a bunch of their figures and I highly recommend them.
They could work as USMC helicopter pilots as they use the same flight suits, but different body armor. You would still need USN/USMC helmets, which only Reedoak makes, and to add the flotation collars.
They could be Army helo crewmen with new heads/helmets (HGU-56s available from Live-Resin) and new body armor.
Most Army fliers no longer wear one-piece flight suits though. They mainly wear two-piece nomex flight uniforms that look very similar to the standard ACU uniform. They come in sand, UCU (digital grays) or OCP (woodland) camo.

Richard, Gino - thanks very much for the replies.
I have a few of the Reedoak figures already, and whilst showing superb detail, they don't really have the poses i am looking for. I was planning on amending the miniart figures to what I need.
Gino, do you have an official description for that army flier vest ? I will see if I can get some more pictures and maybe just sculpt the torso's for my needs.
Thanks again fella's
