Zdravstvuyte comrades.
I have the MiniArt T-54-1 kit and would like to add some Friul tracks. Is the ATL-01 the correct set for this kit?
Thanks!

Zdravstvuy Comrade!
Originaly T-54-1 used OMSh tracks(ATL-01).
But...the early T-54's had short production runs and underwent serious modifications so later on RMSh track(ATL-11) became standard.
So if you intend to model vehicle from the late 40's- then you need ATL-1.
For a later,upgraded version you'll need ATL-11.
Bear in mind that for ATL-11 you will also need to change the drive wheel.OMSh track wheel had 12 teeth, while RMSh's-13 teeth.
Hope this helps,

T-54-1 Used different tracks entirely. Look at the Miniart kit's tracks. They're clearly not OMSH tracks.

Yup, AFAIA the wider OMSh style tracks did not come in till the T-54-2. However it is possible that some of the earlier versions were retro-fitted with the later tracks (most museum examples have these) Some good pics of original, narrow style, tracks here:

the Kubinka example shows the original style tracks:

OMSh is a type of track, not specific track. The abbreviation means Open Metalic Pin.Thus the T-54-1 track was OMSh type.
But...
Remigijus is right- the intitial batch of vehicles(T-54 mod. 1947) had OMSh type tracks, that are different from ATL-1.They were narrower(500 mm) and had a hole in each rimless track to accomodate the bolt when mounting antiskid extensions.Generic MiniArt's kit tracks are exactly these.
On the other hand-with T-54 mod.1949 ,the narrower tracks were replaced by wider ones(580 mm).ATL-1 is matching these wider OMSh type tracks. Backfitting them to existing T-54-1 is quite possible as these new tracks improved drivetrain performance.
So to put it short-if you, Christian, are wiling to use Fruils, the only option is ATL-1, but your vehicle must be T-54-1 in use later than 1949.
If you want to stay within initial batches of T-54-1(1947-1948), then use the generic tracks.

Spasibo tovarich!
I had the ATL-01s in my cart, then took them out, then the auction ended and I lost my good deal < sadface >.
Now I will look for another set. Thanks again!

You're welcome mates, but thanks should also go to Remigijus and Andy for their right remarks.
