I would need some help if anyone has accurate knowledge of the Panther's size... According to wikipedia the hull is 6.87m long. This would make it 8.95cm in 1/76. However the kit I'm reviewing is only 8.5cm long.
So either wikipedia is wrong, or the kit is smaller than it should be; does anyone have any accurate measurements of the Panther?
Thank you.

Interesting. Thank you very, very much for the answer.
It is shorter than the Wiki value... and quite close to what my kit is.

If you don't know the points between which the measurement is made, it's surely of limited value. I find that constants such as 'width over tracks' and wheelbase are the most useful as they are not subject to this issue.
Of course anyone can post any old tosh on Wiki, so it's not always the most reliable source.

If you can't find German drawings the Russian publications are usually a good source as it appears the Soviets made a practice of stripping down captured equipment and creating engineering drawings.

Bear in mind that the drawings are not of a production Panther though, rather (as the drawing says) a VK.3002. For a start, Panther had different exhausts and bins on the rear plate, which affected the length.
