Why is there a Яusso-Soviэt Forum when there isn't, say, an Arab-Israeli Wars forum?

I (and one or two other folk I know) would like somewhere on the internet where we could discuss Arab-Israeli Wars modelling. It's very much a specialist interest, with a lot of 'different' stuff from anywhere else. Yes, we know about the IDF-Modelling.com forum, but that is effectively a 'closed shop' - if you're not a member already you can't become one - none of the moderators respond to requests, and I know people who've been trying to join for years.

Is there any chance of Armorama starting a forum for those interested in the Arab-Israeli Wars, which wouldn't then be swamped in all the other (really good!) 'stuff' which is going on. I know we can 'filter' the main Armour/AFV forum to show only IDF topics, but it's not the same. Why do fans of Russian modelling get special treatment that no one else gets?

Thanks,
Phil

A short answer to your final question could be: half of the military hardware around the world comes from Russia/Soviet Union.

If you go to the AFV/Armor forum you have the choice to tick a box to get IDF topics only and when you create a topic you can also select IDF subject in the unfolding menu.
Probably not as good as a separate forum though.

My 2 cents.

Interesting idea. But I wouldn't limit it to arab/Israeli wars, I would open it to Middle Eastern conflicts to include Libya, Egypt Afghanistan, Lebanon, Israel, Syria, et all. Sounds interesting. And I agree that there is a lot of interest in those conflicts.

Much of the other half of the military hardware came from western countries. I would love to see a form represent them!!!

Most of the countries and conflicts, in the Middle East involve Russo/Soviet equipment. Syria is a prime example.

I believe that this was not extended due to the more forums you have the less interaction is created.

I'm a member of it. I have asked questions, but I never seem to get any answers. Perhaps I ask the wrong things!!

You would have to transport back to when the Forum was started. There were only a handful of Russian/Soviet armor kits and most of them were pretty dodgy. You really had to work hard to bring a subject to a decent level of accuracy, as opposed to the world of German WWII. Things are a bit different now.

I am not sure it's a good thing to have specialist forums based on nationality, era, or type. I think cross-pollination is good.

Plus, once you have split off, it is hard to re-integrate back.

Elsewhere in this same forum someone asked why there is a need for separate forums . . .
