... you first saw it and now gotta have it but can't find it or it's too expensive?

Yes! Two kits. When the DML Pershing and their M4A1 Sherman came out I was really into wheeled AFV's. So much so that I totally ignored these kits 'cause tanks were "dumb".

Later on, I surely wanted these when I discovered tanks were "cool" - but none were around to be found, and those that could were set as insane prices. I eventually got the Pershing, but it was a long time coming...

It's actually the other way around.. I mean, I really like to have the Gunze Sangyo PzKpfw IV Ausf G "High-Tech" kit before.
But with all the kits that are coming out and aftermarkets.. I mean why would I spend $200CAD on that kit...

I wonder if I'm gonna feel this way in not spending $100+ on Trumpeter's 1:35th scale Hind when it hits the shelves...

Gunnie, that's exactly why I'm not buying the Hind. I have too many kits on the shelf already that I just "had to have." But, the Hind is cool and I do have a bonus check coming... Oh, crap... Never mind...

Like Gunnie, I passed up the DML M4A1 75mm Early. It came out at the same time as Tamiya's M4 Early and I couldn't see spending $30+ for the DML kit when a Tamiya kit was just a few dollars more. But lucky for me, that DML kit sat on the shelf at a Ben Franklin's Craft store for well over a year and was never sold. When the store was going out of business, I picked up several kits. When the out-of-business sale went to 50% off, I finally grabbed the DML kit. It was one of the last models they had left. Ended up paying $15-16 for it. Glad I did.

The other kit I passed up was the Esci M60A3TTS. It came out at the same time as the Tamiya M60A3TTS. Of course the Tamiya kit had to be better, it was a Tamiya kit after all. I found out the Esci M60s were better when I found the Esci M60A1 Blazer in an Odd Lots store for $4.99. By the time, the Esci M60A1 and M60A3 kits were OOP and only the Blazer was available. I did end up getting many of the Blazer kits, some for as low as $1.99. Those Blazer kits plus the Tamiya A3 specific parts produce a very nice M60A3TTS.

Last year I finally got the Esci M60A3TTS kit in a trade. I do not believe I traded something of huge value to get the kit so I think I got a good deal in the trade. I do know it was a lot cheaper than buying the Revell of Germany reissue M60A3TTS at $35.

Everything eventually worked out just fine for me.

I pretty much passed up all the Testors kits because those pics of the build model with the out of scale soldier in a stupid pose just looked too dumb to be good. Little did I know the M7 Priest and the M4A1 would be such highly prized items. Although the M7 has been reissued under Italeri ($20-25) and the M4A1is becoming much more rare, I remember back in the days when these kits were less than $10.
