I am doing a 1/25 scale Centurion, used by Israel . does anyone have an idea where I can find colors and patterns?

You are propably going for a Six day war variant.

Humbrol 84 is a good start,you can use Vallejo primer 73.614 and Model Master 2138 is nice too.

Why not just use ModelMaster Israeli sand gray?

I am by no means an expert on the subject of IDF colors, but I have done quite a bit of research on the internet over the years. Depending on what specific Centurion you are building (that is, Sho't for the early Meteor engined version or Sho't Kal for the later Continental engined version), as well as what time period (1967 war era, 1973 war era), the colors are different. The below is a link to some ideas for colors for various periods, and covers Lifecolor, Tamiya and Humbrol paints. I am in the middle of building the AFV Club 1967 Sho't. I use Tamiya paints almost exclusively (unless I an find a premix for a given color, then I may use a different paint manufacturer). For my Sho't, I am using the 50/50 Dark Yellow/Buff mixture. If you go this route, as another prior poster suggested, you'll find that this mixture gives you a distinctly 'dark mustard yellow' color. I'm not saying that the link represents complete color accuracy, but it gives you some options.

Not that you were asking for this, (and I'm not trying to contradict any other posters on this thread) but the Humbrol 84 is a good representation of the modern IDF color, or the Tamiya mixtures that closely duplicate that Humbrol color. This would not apply, of course, to your IDF Centurion.

I wonder if the Tamiya kit is a appropriate since it`s a Mk.III with an early 20 pdr. while the IDF used Mk.5/2 with late 20 pdr. in the beginning and the 105 mm L7.

There are many Israeli-specific paints on the market. However, I believe they were factory-painted in overall British sand colour (Light or Mid Stone?) as Centurion new build production ceased in 1962 and Sand Grey wasn't adopted universally until 1973 (but may have been in use before then).

However, the Tamiya Cent is a Mk 3 and IDF only received new-build Mk 5 or later. Different in many details, most obviously the gun barrel. It is possible that IDF may have received some second-hand ex-Mk3's later, but by then they would have been upgraded to Mk6 or 11 with the L7 105mm gun and other improvements.

Your only option for a Mk3 in that theatre is a Jordanian one, finished in red-brown over sand. I don't have any colour matches for that but I believe the colours were similar or identical to the British colours used on Cents in the Middle East.

Israeli tanks were always plain colour. They did experiment with camouflage on Merkavas but didn't adopt it.

In my paint collection I have the following Sand Greys: others may also be available. The '82 version is too late.

Why so many? I haven't decided which I like the look and finish of, and for a bit of tonal variation.

There are a number of matches for Light Stone. The AFV Club box art looks far too brown, almost like DAK or Luftwaffe Sandbraun.

I have these Light Stones, again there are others out there.
