Hi all,
i just bought some Friulmodel BMP-1 track links and i have discovered that you have to drill out the wholes on both sides of the track link and that there is no whole running through the middle section of the track either, is this normal?

if this is the case then these tracks represent a hell of a lot more work than i was planning on and i have never seen this set up before with Fruil tracks.

has anyone had any experience with Masterclub metal track links and if so what were your experiences? Masterclub metal links

the other option i see available is again from masterclub and it is the resin track link option. i have tried to use those in the past but as fast as i built them the fell apart and the each track developed a bend or curve and didn't end up straight at all: Masterclub resin track links

thoughts and opinions welcome

I have used Masterclub tracks before,T-72 &RSO tracks and have not had any issues at all.Tracks went together rather easy for me,and I kinda like the pins they give you.Hope this helps out.

I have used a dozen sets of the Freul tracks and I drilled out all the links during clean up. I normally use .020 brass rod as pins instead of the provided wire, unless the track is small.

I can fully recommend Masterclub METAL tracks, have got quite good and fully satisfying experience with (a couple of sets of) tracks for BMD-1/2 and for BMP-1 and BMP-2... All these sets have resin pins and white metal links, number of links provided covers possible malformations of links with good quantity reserve, there is nearly no needed cleaning and pins depict very well pins with holes which connect real track links. Pay attention that pins have "inner" (slightly narrower) end and outer end which has a hole... I didn't need any glue and can say the tracks after assembly do not disintegrate/split apart when handled... I have tried full resin tracks (resin links, clickable) for BMD-1/2 and have to say they can not be compared to metal ones, I can confirm they tended to split apart ewen when being observed...
I can suggest to leave idler wheel with its Z axle unglued/free to move to achieve proper (nearly zero) sag of tracks...

David,

This what I do when I use Fruil tracks. Do not use the supplied wire (use the as wire detail).
I use standard staples.
Do not drill out the hole all the way thru. I straiten one end of the staple put 2 links together and push the staple in one end. The pressure of being pushed in opens enough to hold together the links. Then clip off the unneedable end. It really works and saves a lot of headache. And they will remain workable. I just finished a M551 set of tracks and loved the finish.
Bizarre

Master club metal are the best.
No need to drill and you have resin pins. Detail is better in 99% of the cases as well
