Really nice job on the HST. The finish and weathering are first rate. Have one of these in the stash - inspiring stuff.

I was going to try it on myself and go stealth, but it only works on other users.

This thread and the photo of the HST towing an 8 incher has made me move the kits of both in my stash up to "next" position. Thanks, Jacob, and all who have participated. I'm hoping to do the 101st Airborne divisional artillery at Bastogne who IIRC were black. Got Hornet heads to depict a minority crew, something that we don't see enough of in the hobby.

Seeing the M4 built up has given me the urge to make it as well. And, I scored the 8" howitzer at the hobby show a coupe months back.
Making the crew black soldiers is a good idea. Not many are aware of the contribution those Americans made to the war effort, and they made darn good artillery soldiers.

Great model ! I would like to add that somtimes i think people forget that modeling is a hobby for people to enjoy . im not saying accuracy is a bad thing but in the end if the builder likes the end result of his build thats all that matters . i get alot of usefull info on this site to help with my builds from the many people here that know more than me but when i see people arguing on someones post i smh and laugh and think to myself , really its just a hobby lol and the rivet counters can really take the wind out of the sails of guys who want to enjoy the hobby again great job on your build

Questions: I am in the process of finishing up my own M4 HST right now and I am using Panda Plastic's T-49 steel cleat tracks and duckbills.
#1. Were the two return rollers on the M4 also black rubber coated as well?
#2. Even though the T-49 tracks were steel cleat was the back surface of the track block still rubber coated?

p.s. I vote for towing the gun - and perhaps back-dating the tires and the Limber using the resin wheel set from Scale-Link.

Regardless of the dispute/controversy over the proper load/which gun should be towed, this is a well executed build. Very nicely painted and weathered.

The idler wheel and the return rollers were not rubber coated.
I have not seen the bar cleat first hand, but the metal chevron I had a look at were steel on the inner surface. I would think the bar cleat were as well. The live track effect was made using rubber bushings around the track pins.

James: Yes, you're absolutely right about the seats, they're probably the real "lows" in that kit. I've seen other modeller's, who build cuoshins and seat belts, which really adds to the build.
